Motorcycle mags never dissed motorcycles in their reviews. I see the same thing for bicycles.
I usually get on the forums for specific cars or motorcycles and see what types of problems seem to crop up for a lot of folks. I don't know if we have something like this for bicycles, specific to each bike manufacturer.
Back in the old days, there was a publication "Absolute Sound" which had reviews for Audiophiles. Now that's where you would get reviews. Contributors would talk about imaging, mid range, too much bass, high end too harsh, etc. In the early days of compact discs, the process was not the greatest as the title owners were eager to push product out for the mass market. It would be like hearing how aluminum frames were harsh. And how steel alloys were a better ride.
Look at the newer Cervelo forks. Way different than a few years back. New fork with new tapered head tube (longer), a better handling bike.
