Sadly, I'm in agreement. Many of us are able to maintain relative car-free status by spending a little more on housing. That isn't an option for a lot of people and their reliance on a car is equivalent to a ball and chain.

I think there are ways around this issue, but really transportation is just a small part of the problem for many disadvantaged people. Opportunity for education might be higher on the list than getting ride of their car.
