IMO it would be foolish to repaint because of preference.
After alot of consideration and taking the advice of you guys, I decided to give the frame a slow, thoughtful rust removal treatment and match the paint the best I can and touch up the spots. The longer I have the frame the more it grows on me. It is a piece of 80s Trek history and I know I would regret a repaint...in addition to killing any collector value. This frame was raced hard, as it was meant to be. It would be a shame to erase that history. I'll repost when I'm done with the build!
