I abandoned cantilever brakes a while back for all the reasons that have been discussed on these forums at length. I went with TRP CX8.4, and they work. They really work.
A part of me misses the...style...of cantilever brakes. That's about it. I have no better reason to think about switching back. I would have done it already except that I remember how badly those Avids sucked, so I stay with my mini-vs.
Anyhow, anyone use Shimano CX-70s? I know...I should just stick with my mini-vs.
This might be a dumb question but I'm trying to learn all the ins and outs of braking before I decide which frame to buy. I'm coming from exclusively on the road so this is all new to me. I'm assuming you don't like the cantilever because of the (lack of) braking power right? Well do the Mini-Vs mount onto the same brake posts on the fork? And what other trypes of brakes are there that fit those posts? Linear pull? Do all types work with typical road brake levers? Anything else to be aware of?
