Ouch, yeah I learned on my very first commute from work that my normal sunglasses (small-ish wire-frame Oakleys) absolutely would not cut it for longer rides. At one point I was switching back and forth between clear safety glasses and wider coverage sun glasses. Then I picked up some lightly used Tifosi cycling glasses with photo-chromatic lenses. They darken in sunlight, just a bit, but it's enough. And they're clear in low light. I love them and never have to switch out anymore.
So today I decided to drive to work then ride home. I finally tried out my new custom Marin utility bike build for a commute. The verdict: it's definitely slower. Almost exact same conditions as riding home yesterday, but was around 5 minutes slower moving time. But it was definitely a comfy ride!
Really getting tired of the section of my commute that's being used as a detour from the adjacent state highway, which is closed in one area through November. So the traffic that would normally be on the 55 MPH 2-lane highway is on the quiet 35 MPH country road instead. And it SUCKS!
