Well, my problem is the FD since it is a 3X10 - yes I know very little, but have done some research before asking. Some of the information I found indicated that I coud use the 10-speed with the 9-speed, but some said no. others said I would also need to use a 10-speed chain. Coonfused by this along with my insufficient knowledge were the basis of the question. While there are many topics I have extensive knowledge of, bicycle mechanics is not. I am trying to learn, however, and I do appreciate the responses for the help that is offered.
