i try not to unclip. if i do, its heel out.
used to have cleats hammered into the sole and the slot was locked onto the pedal with the toe clip strap.
Then you had to reach down, loosen the strap, lift the cleat over the pedal ridge, and slide the foot up and back.
with all that activity, it's best just to stay clipped in 7x24x365 and have your friends feed you as you pass by the house...
