My Colnago came with drilled chainrings.

The 52T had been welded near where it had been drilled... and subsequently the welds broke.

Sorry, no photos, perhaps the old chainring will show up sometime.

Anyway, perhaps lighten between the crank arms if you must, but don't lighten at the attachment points.

As far as the cranks above... keep in mind leverage, althogh I'd expect more leverage further down the cranks. It must just get enough thicker material to keep it from busting closer to the spindle.

Some riders really mash the fixies...
