And unless you switch to a SS f/w and redish the rear wheel, your bike won't get any stronger.

In BMX racing, cruisers are 24" bikes. Proto-BMXers would often race on 20" Schwinn Stingrays or the like, so it would make sense that older kids would race on cruisers.

It's often called Cruiser Class.

Non-race 24s are also often called cruisers, and BMX 26ers are also often called cruisers.
