What would you do? Front hub or mid-drive...

I have two bikes with BionX systems (on my cargo bikes - a Big Dummy and Xtracycle) and while I like those I don't want the weight, especially at the rear of my bike (e.g., rear hub motor) for touring. I rode 110 miles this weekend on the Big Dummy and really enjoyed the trip (camping), but would like to go further and more days/more often on my touring bike. Also, I cannot put the cargo bikes in my van or on the bus or train.

The bike is a Velo-Orange Campeur and I'd like to keep it fairly light weight and balanced. I'm looking for some long distance touring assistance, not for hauling heavy loads or a lot of assistance up hills. I like to peddle, but I just want to go 50 or more miles without having to worry about being in top condition and just want to enjoy my adventures. I pack light and expect my load to be around 200 pounds (me + gear).

I'm between the Outrider geared front hub and a 8fun Bafang mid-drive.

Question is which one, and then which wattage. I may be wrong, but I'm thinking the lower wattage motors (250-350 watts) would be fine - and help me go longer distances. I wonder about the type of battery and saw a 24volt system today from 8fun. However, most everything else is 36 volts. I'd go with the highest amp hours I could afford.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
