When you say boot kit, what does yours consist of? I was out riding Saturday and got a flat. When I got off the bike I was prepared to put another tube in and be on my way. That wasn't the case. Yes, that works for smallish cuts. Can't leave it in though. Abrades the tube and will eventually cause a flat. I also carry a couple small pieces of heavier stuff, cut from an old tire and cleaned up, corners rounded, etc. Since I already carry a spare tire, the boot kit is for patching the spare.

Or someone else's tire.
