I would also consider getting a demo bike or something slightly used. I got a nice almost new 2012 Tarmac w ultegra last year that was albeit 2 years old for less than half the costs of a new one. It costs me $1350 for the bike and I got Fulcrum Racing 3's for an extra $350 on closeout. I had enough left over for a new seat and tires and was still under $2k.
