It helps to know what kind of bike and what frame material you have. Any method of installing modern wide-range gearing
inexpensively will involve widening the rear triangle for a modern cassette hub.
The reborn Sun XCD hubs are available in 120mm width:
Hubs ? SunXCD - Bicycle Components but I'm not sure they're available. The 130mm width are already pricey:
