Oh yeah one more thing if I do decided to change the bike cogs out. Is there a difference between freewheel and cassette 7 speeds? Are they interchangeable? I believe it has a freewheel style on it now. the gears are 14-16-18-20-22-24-28. Only name on anything is Epoch is on the locknut

Lets start for start.
Freewhell is on classic tecnology for threaded cogs. Freehub cassete is an newer alternative where cogs dont threaded, just putted on cassete body.

In short: There is no freewhell with decent quality in market for 7 speeds and 11-28 cogs.
To change cogs to smaller ones, you will most likely change the whole rear whell and buy a lot of new componets.
For now, you can change as many components as you can aford, but my two cents is
not do do it.
Get used with your bike, gears, componets and stuff. Use more what you have now before starts to thinkk upgrades.
