Mavic will not sell RIMS to consumers for their prebuilt wheels. They want to make sure that if one of their wheels is rebuilt that it will be done to their standards. I do no consider this to be a bad policy.
I have been in the bike industry for around 10 years on both the manufacturer side and retail shop side and have never once been offered training other than offering access to their dealer site. They only sell to shops simply because it is easier for them and they do not have to spend as much time on the phone with customer service.
