Regarding #4 ...when in doubt don't lock it up outside. No matter what you do, a thief can break open your locks and steal your bike given opportunity and time. There are places in small town Great Plains where your bike is safe because the town only has 100 people in it who all have known one another for 30 years. However most people worried about locking bikes up do not live or ride in those areas.
