Control is better than you'd think as the amount of fuel in the chamber at any given time is quite small. You control temperature by feeding fuel. It does require more attention than a liquid fueled stove. To some that is a negative; I kind of like it. I enjoy cooking and even when camping I pay attention to what I'm doing.
