Homework was done before slapping it all together. There is a thread on this very forum talking about what year of these bikes had suspension forks. Same bike that you linked to with the suspension fork was discussed. The consensus was that earlier years of this bike had suspension forks and later ones didn't.
I do have 2 more 29 forks lying around including a CX carbon fork, which I felt would have too long of an Axle to Crown length.
The post also mentioned that one Toscana 300 in that thread had an A-C length of 368mm:

The Nashbar 26" fork has a A-C length of 385mm. Like I stated, no toe clip (not even close with 165mm cranks), and the head angle measures close to the current model as it is. I also measured the seat tube, bottom bracket drop, and other dimensions. They are either the same or very close, as I was also initially concerned with the bottom bracket drop (same as the current bike on the website).
At this point, I'll have the wife ride it and see how the fork feels at high speed. At low speeds, she really likes teh bike. The weight mentioned in that other thread also puts the bike around the 26 lbs range. I'm using an uncalibrated luggage scale, so my weight could be off.
At this point we're going to ride and adjust as needed.
Thanks for your concerns. I hear you about the possibility of dangerous geometries. I don't want the wife to get hurt.
