The local alcohol available here in Australia and likely now too, in New Zealand, soots up the pots and kettle.
The usual solution for soot is to dilute the fuel. I add a few drops of water to the burner if necessary.
The most concentrated fuel I found was in a German hardware store. It must have been leftover rocket fuel because it was the only stuff that would boil over in the burner. I almost incinerated a nice wooden camping hut in Denmark. I always keep an eye on the burner with any new batch of fuel.
