Thank you again for the advice on putting my saddle flat. That changed my riding style a lot!
Now I find that am pushing my butt off the back of my saddle when in the drops (as I am most of the time) so.....

Slamming seat back with massive saddle to handlebar drop? Gee, why would that be a concern?...sarcasm. Nothing to do with closing the hip angle and making it impossible to reach the handlebars without riding on the nose of the saddle. He has to run his saddle forward to get in that awful push up position. PS: your last sentence is his problem..lol. Can't make this stuff up.
I am not in a push up position any more. I don't think it was so bad (superman for the inflexible?) but these days I'm in my drops, spinning more than pushing, with better back flexibility, very little hip angle, so I do not need my saddle forward, but further back.
You are better at advice than sarcasm, Campag.
I am more interested in the changes in bikes as explained by Chevy and Sheldon Brown. You can weigh in on that if you'd be so kind. What parts could be added to a Gran Fondo to vintage it?
