Probably tough to come by the 1x version of that crank when it came time to replace it, so they figured the 2x would have to suffice?
I see that now. I had a couple of thoughts about the double crank. One was to leave it as is and just foot shift. The other was to replace the crank with a single when I find one. The third option was to take off the inner ring and make the Sugino a single. Don't know yet but am currently rebuilding it so we will see.
