It sounds to me like your shifter is busted and the mechanism won't consistently release the cable tension. Older SRAM rival shifters are known for this.
But it's DA 7800. I thought these things were solid.
Looks like I'll have to give it a once over in a few days. I'm slouching towards finishing up prep for my exam tomorrow. Oy. Maybe I'll take a study break and tinker.
