Despite having a number of stoves, my Trangia is my go-to stove for extended tours, however it does suffer from soot and is nowhere as clean burning as my kerosene stove (if primed properly).
The alcohol (methylated spirits) is cheap, easy to find and spills don't stink like kerosene
