Ref 2: Yep, pretty much. With a properly fitted and adjusted saddle, your butt should just slide onto it/back onto it naturally. No squirming around or thought required. Wrt 1: Given you have a good/correct saddle for you, restart with a fit guide or just continue to tweak from where you are until you get there.
