My old MTB-based commuter, a 1997 Nishiki Blazer. There is not one graceful line or curve on it. And my kludgy aftermarket bars, bar-ends, aero bars, baskets, fenders and seat do nothing for the esthetics. Nor do the red and while reflective tape additions that I went a little overboard with. And while some older bikes develop a nice "patina", mine features plain old rust and grime. But with street tires it rides real smooth and cushy, and with the higher gearing and aero bars it can rocket down the street. And the granny gears help me get its porky but up the Colorado hills. WIth the addition of my new Charge Plug commuter, the big Nishiki is wearing its first ever set of studded snow tires, awaiting its return to winter snow riding.
I'd like to see a photo or two of this functional beast.
