It depend upon what you value. If you want a carbon fiber bike, that price is going to be almost impossible to beat. Some would go for AL alloy bike, with Tiagra (maybe 105, if you find a good deal online) for $800.

As datlas said, make sure that whatever bike you get fits, and is comfortable enough that you want to ride. A $1000 bike that you want to ride is a better deal than a $800 bike that you dread riding. Even if the specs were almost identical.
