Late comer to this thread. A basic question I have on this bike is that yes, it was assembled back mid-70s but mine came with a sticker for Raleigh winning the Tour De France and that was about '80 or '81. One may not be able to read it from the photo but that is what it says. It came with drop bars, Suntour mighty shifters which were always troublesome so I went to friction shifters and yes, I had some Carlton hoods, I put those on and the bike has a Carlton decal on the seat tube as well. So, sorry if this is old news but I had to say it, I tracked down the serial number once before and it sounds like it was made in the Worsop or Ilkeston factory back when the original Raleigh STs came out (all of this is a bit off the top of my head, so I hope I get the names right). Quality bike as far as that goes, came with a Simplex Prestige rear derailleur of all things. Foam was on the drop bars. Stronglight crank, Maillard wheels, front and back.
