Say what? Since when can poor people afford to put braces on their kids' teeth? Even here in Australia where we have a quite cheap health care system it costs between $6000 and $9000 per kid for braces.

This is let alone that the woman has enough cash to buy pot.

The linked newspaper article is a sob story, for sure, but I find it extraordinary that someone who has broken the law not once, but multiple times is being used as an example of why the government should spend millions on infrastructure... because people like her can't control their own lives effectively enough to get their financial and personal priorities in order.
