That would depend.

No doubt one could "flip" vintage bikes and loose one's shirt, especially if one messes up on the original ID (counterfeits). I think a lot of 30 yr old bikes haven't depreciated a lot, but assuming at least moderate use, may not have appreciated much from their NEW price either.
