Started November off with a ride. I've convinced myself I am going to try and commute all Winter so today I drove to work (with changes of clothing, etc), left my vehicle in a locked back lot, and rode home. That means I now have to ride my bike back in tomorrow morning.
I've done this commute many times already but since I am going to make this an "as many times a week as I can" thing I looked on Google Maps for opportunities to make it more pleasant. I want to minimize roads, stops, elephant stampedes, etc. I meandered just a bit and ended up with a one-way trip of 17.9 mile. I will probably end up around 17.5-17.8 miles normally if I go door to door. For now it will be a one-way trip and I'll either just ride TO work or FROM work and I'll drive the other leg. Once I see how things are going to go I'll throw in a few two-way trips but I don't want to get sick of it.
Also I stayed in a gear that I'm using to practice my cadence. I didn't come out of the gear even though I really wanted to put the hammer down. I need to make sure I enjoy the daily ride and even though I don't think doing sub-20 milers every day would stress me I want to be sure. As I near the end of the week I may bump up to the next gear, which is what my next cruising gear will be.
