Bikes: Old Steelies I made, Old Cannondales

Pedaling backwards can cause the chain to go slack if you are cross chained, because the chain is not going in a straight line, and gets hung up trying to self-center. The common fix is not to pedal backwards.

Spinning the rear wheel backwards is supposed to move the drive train too.
