I've found that different people have very different definitions of "go anywhere". What does your "anywhere" include and what priorities do you place on different parts of that "anywhere"? Do you have a minimum tire width requirement? Is handlebar to saddle height important to you? Do you have a preference of frame material? How important is weight to you?
What I am looking for is a bike that is most importantly comfortable on long road rides, yet can fit a 40c+ tire and be ridden on rougher dirt/gravel roads. I want a more upright geometry, no preference for frame material, and weight is of little importance.
