He explained it well, but with the wheel off the bike, spin the freewheel backward and notice where it rotates and doesn't. That is where the flush and oil should be applied. You will need to cleanup the hubs and spoke afterward too. I like to use an old rag and place the edge in-between the spokes and sprocket, then repeat for each sprocket pair until all the gunk is cleaned out.
Thanks for the reinforcement of the tip from John. I will be looking into this as soon as I have time. Thanks again for the suggestion to follow his advice, I appreciate all the help on this.
