I've kept stats on all of my cycling for years. I started doing it during my running days and added other types of exercise. Here are my commuting numbers:

8 years
1,292 rides (round trip)
34,273 miles
0 accidents*

* I have fallen over on my bike twice while commuting, once sliding out on a traffic circle and once running off edge of pavement in poor visibility (last week). I was not injured in either case other than minor scrapes and my bikes were not damaged, so I don't consider them accidents. I have never been hit by another vehicle in all of my commuting and 40+ years of cycling. I am a firm believer in making yourself visible to avoid collisions, on the theory that most cyclists get hit because drivers don't see them. I use headlights and tail lights commuting in the daytime as well as dark and almost always wear high viz jerseys, jackets or vests.
