Not at all. The kitchen is extremely important. France didn't get its reputation for cuisine for no reason. Neither did it get that reputation due to the way its kitchens are furnished. It is simply about Spartan. A few things to store. A few cabinets to store them in. They aren't attached to the walls anymore than a book case must needs be built in elsewhere in the house.
