Chain lube usually has some extra additives like teflon which will likely just gum up the pawls inside the hub. A thinner grease will possibly create the desired effect you're talking about. In the past, I have used a thin coating of Slick Honey. In one rare instance when the 18 degree morning froze the grease in a set of Hadley hubs, I used WD-40 to wash the grease away. The hubs freed up....and were louder than anyone on the ride that day.
