Bikes: 2015 Workswell 066, 2017 Workswell 093, 2014 Dawes Sheila, 1983 Cannondale 500, 1984 Raleigh Olympian, 2007 Cannondale Rize 4, 2017 Fuji Sportif 1 LE

Have a BD Dawes myself, with probably half the mileage of yours. Pretty similar experience. Haven't broken it down completely (everything but the hubs, but I replaced the wheels) and yes, it took me a long time to get the derailleurs tuned (front particularly) but they work really well.

For a decent cheap Craigslist bike, with what I would likely have to pay for new tires and cables and the time to break it all down and re-lube and rebuild and adjust it, plus a few parts it might need, the cost and energy would end up being about the same.

Glad you like the bike and very much appreciate your effort to keep us apprised. I know for some a no-name BD bike with a Kinesis frame and mix-and-match entry-level parts is anathema, but for a lot of beginning cyclists it is probably their best bet.
