I've seen posts from experienced mechanics, saying that a couple hundred miles may let a chain wear just enough to stop skipping.

But the odd thing here is if it is really skipping on the chainring. Every time I've had skipping, it was on the rear cogs. Worn chainrings have always caused chainsuck for me, (i.e. the chain "sticks" to the chainring and gets jammed into the underside of the FD).
