NJS Dromo Crankset VS. Sugino Messenger

For a possible singlespeed crank up front with a 9 speed cluster in the rear I am attempting to build; The wheelset will be used Mavic Open Pros with Ultegra hubs. The fork will be a Ritchey Comp with a Ritchey headset, stem and the Ritchey Classic bars. Frame is to be conjured.

I have an NJS Dromo crankset that I bought of BikeWagon a long time ago when I was just getting into road biking. uhh... still don't know a little bit of a lot of information but I'm getting there. The Dromo is a knock off and comes in at a weighty 700+ grams. Is a sleek black which is cool but I prefer high polish silver.

Is it worth it to just stick with this weighty crankset and hope for the best? Or to invest in quality and only settle for the Sugino Messenger at the least? Will I really notice that much of a difference? What are other choices for Singlespeed cranks within this price/quality range?

Thanks all
