I'm not a big fan of MMA, too brutal and dangerous for the fighters. It's all the rage here, though. I watched Rhonda (the arm bar assassin) in the 2008 Olympics, and if you watch some of that footage, she was a thing of beauty and a force of nature. She dominated one or two women who had substantial height and reach advantage in her various elimination rounds. There was one throw that is simply unbelievable, if you've ever done any Judo.
Unfortunately, nobody makes money at Judo, so what you get is the MMA crap.

And therein lay Rousey's problem. She is reputedly a floor fighter deriving from her judo career, whereas Holm was from boxing. For some reason, Rousey fought on her feet rather than going to ground, and that played right into Holm's hands... or foot in this case.
Agreed about MMA, though. I am just surprised at the coverage it has been getting. I've read about it, but there is no way I want to watch it either live or on TV.
