You'll be OK. It's a bicycle, not a space ship. It's a simple machine.
The biggest issue is if it's the right size. Make sure it feels good when you ride it and avoid any temptation to "fudge" on this one issue. Aside from that, you'll be able to tell if it's been left out in the rain or run over by a truck. Run it through the gears and test the brakes and you'll be good-to-go.
