One thing I like about Fujis is that they avoided Shimano components more than any other brand. They had many (but not all) models that had not a single Shimano nut or bolt.
Did Fuji belong to the JEX group? I know JEX was a components group, but I thought I read that some Japanese bike companies also belonged to the 2 components groups.
