The only real way to improve on hills is to climb more hills. The trainer probably isn't going to help much. If you have a good hiil close to your house, climb it as often as you can. Instead of doing an hour on the trainer, climb that hill 3 times, 3 or 4 days a week in a higher gear every couple of days. You can warm up first on the trainer, then finish your workout on the trainer. Do this in the morning or at night with a light. It will amaze you how fast you improve.
