I won't say that they are fairly priced, but if you've ever held a Shimano hollowtech chainring in your hand, you can see it's not a simple piece.
I've gone to
these as an alternative (to Shimano or Sram) on Rotor cranks. I have not used Shimano since selling my 7800, but they shift at least that well and I think better than Sram ones. I suppose if you have a current Shimano crank you pretty much have to use the Shimano ones.
