If you want to get better on the hills, ride the hills. Learn to like them and look forward to the challenge. Seek them out. When you see a big hill, do you say, "Damn, another hill!" or "I'm getting better on the hills all the time and this time will be no different."

The right mental attitude helps with hills, but the best advise is simply ride the hills Alot.

You will get better.

Unfortunately true. It kills to struggle up hills, when what I went into cycling for was that feeling of almost-flying that you get spinning down a gentle downhill. But that's the deal. Problem for me was (is) that I ride with a club of more experienced riders, and their more ambitious rides just aren't accessible to me because they LOVE hills. So I've got to train on my own, and that takes a discipline I don't always have.
