I remember them... 'Tire' Dave - for those that might remember, 'Dave' was a tire seller back in the 70s and early 80s (also maybe after, but I moved to MD), used to 'advert' in the back of Velonews. He was THE tire guy in No. NJ. His basement at any time have 1,000s of sewups. I would go down his basement and pick thru to find his 'best deals... or so I thought...
Anyway, he showed up in BrookDale Pk - Montclair (used to have weekly Sunday races there when nothing local on the calendar) on a real beauty Track Benotto, Champagne colored, diamond stays, awesome - with the Cinelli Pedals on it. He took a parade lap... Now Dave was more the 'sportly' type rather than sportin, and at the bottom of the hill he spun out so fast he almost did a header into one of the large stately Sycamores lining the road at the lower bend... was the last time I saw those Cinellis...
I remember cause I bought that Benotto off Dave and rode it a few years (no cinelli pedals).
Dave, you out there ????
