Currently evaluating touring gear. Thinking about just using the rear rack, frame bag and some kind of below the handle bar bag. The question I have is about the weight and handling of the UL style with all the weight up high, especially under the seat. Any issues with that? I thinking of trying to go lighter. Keeping the heavier stuff on the rear rack down low. Has anyone weighed what a "light" rack weighs and panniers vs just frame bags? I have an old school aluminum pletscher rack weighs maybe 1 -1.25 lbs. Maybe this thread won't go 30 pages.
