Bikes: Trek, Centurion, Kuwahara coming soon

Newbie Repair/Maintenance Trifecta

I have been riding for a while now, but I am now getting into simple repair and maintenance.

Tonight I had several things that needed done.

My first project was my wife's new (used) bike. She is not sure how serious she will get about riding so we got her a used Trek ATB on the cheap. Still need to get a new chain but I did go ahead and get her a new tube (which she needed on the front). I tried patching it, but no luck. The cheap patches I have for my bikes did not hold. So I was able to install a new tube for the first time. No problems luckily. I was mainly hoping not to get a pinch flat. Not as bad as I thought.

Next she had a squeaky rear brake. I thought I had it fixed and took it for a test ride, but then it would not brake worth a crap. I finally figured out that one of the pads was angled up into the tire rather than the rim. A qucik adjustment with the hex and there it was.

Finally, I needed to put a coupler on my ATB/commuter for pulling my daighters trailer. No problems there.

I know these are not a big deal to most of you, but I am pretty proud since I have never really done any of these before.
