sounds like a cool venue. off-camber, esp if things get wet, can change everything.
one thing worth thinking about: mishaps happen in CX. people burp tires, crash and break a shifter, etc. one reason not to have a course that is so long is in case of a mishap people are SO far from a pit. this course loops back on itself (which means you can have a 2-sided pit...that is nice), but it is optimal when you have that on a short course.
i just mention this because i think you are a bit newer to CX and some of these things may not immediately be obvious. just because the terrain exists doesn't mean it SHOULD be used.
i know you have mentioned guys with lots of cx experience in the past, so i'm sure they have a plan--no disrespect at all.
hope you enjoy the riding! sounds like a unique opportunity to create a favorable impression. nice to have a good venue to play with.
out here, a promoter runs a small event in a local (90' away) park. the park is AMAZING for cx, but each year while they set a good course they never truly take advantage of all the park has to offer. my buddy and i got approached this year to set next year's course. i bet it will be way more work than expected, but it's exciting -- having a cool venue as a canvas is HUGE.
