The Masi Orange Red did undergo a change. Right around that time even. It got darker. To my eye, the bikes shown in the movie were the earlier color. Brian Baylis could probably make up a sample, so could Jim Allen of the Cyclesmiths, both in California.
As to equipment, if you look closely there are some curious variations, One scene has the bike with a Weinmann 500 caliper in front, I would go with a Cinelli #63 or #64 bar and 1A stem, my theory is they swapped out stuff to get the riding doubles to look "right" on the bikes. The graphics on the bikes were the simplified version used for a time, just a white MASI on the down tube, note the seat tube bands are kind of awkwardly placed and even the down tube transfer was low compared to a production bike I have. The fork crown was the Cinelli type, chromed.
I would go with Christophe clips and Binda straps. One of the bikes has had a major frame repair done some years ago, it is no longer correct.
